What is a checkers shot?
A shot is a combination: you give up one or more pieces, your opponent is forced to jump them, and their men land exactly where a multiple jump is waiting. They have no choice — in checkers, jumping is mandatory.
It is the weapon of club players, the one that turns a game around in two moves. Spotting shots can be learned: the same patterns keep coming back, and the daily puzzle puts them in front of you.
How the puzzle works
You have White and it is your move. After each of your moves, Black has only one reply, a forced jump, which the computer plays for them. The shot takes two White moves and must leave you at least two pieces ahead — pieces taken minus pieces given, counted on the board.
A wrong move fails the attempt: the computer shows how Black gets out of it, then you start again from the position. Jumps and multiple jumps are explained in how to play checkers.
The weekly leaderboard
A puzzle solved on your first try, without showing the solution, counts toward the weekly leaderboard, the one that rewards playing regularly. Past puzzles stay playable for practice; the ones you solved are marked in this browser.

Frequently asked questions
What is a shot in checkers?
A combination where you sacrifice one or more pieces to force your opponent to jump, then jump back more with a double or triple jump. Mandatory jumping makes their reply predictable: that is the whole trick.
Why does Black never get a choice?
Because jumping is mandatory: every Black reply in the puzzle is the only jump on the board. The puzzle tests your calculation, not luck.
What does “in 2 moves” mean?
You play two White moves; Black’s forced jumps come in between. Every checkers puzzle here is a two-move shot.
How is the gain counted?
In pieces, on the board: the ones you took minus the ones you gave. You need at least two at the end of the shot; a tally above the board keeps count while you play.
Do I need an account?
No. Checkers puzzles are free to play with no sign-up; the ones you solved are marked in this browser.
